A new year is starting at GHID:

BOARD Meeting Results - We met at the home of Rita Wedgeworth on August 21 and enjoyed a LARGE attendance of board members, including committee chairs, and a special guest from our sister chapter AID, President Elect, Roberto Sandoval, totaling 13 in attendance. The budget and calendar for the year were discussed and decided at this meeting. More information will be forthcoming in newsletters and on this site. Stay tuned.

With affection, respect, and sadness, we honor and mourn the passing of Lucille Allen McAlister - one of our GHID founders, Mrs. McAlister was our selection for the Distinguished Service Award to a Local Chapter, presented at the TSID Conference. She spoke briefly to the assembly as she accepted that award on June 26, 2010 (see photo below).. She passed away on July 31, following a long illness. In addition to her work with GHID, she was also a BEI evaluator and taught in the ITPs at Houston Community College, Lee College in Baytown, and North Harris College (now Lone Star College).

SO YOU NEED TO HIRE AN INTERPRETER? You may check with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) or with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Both groups maintain a list of service providers.
